I enjoy listening to Vedic Mantra chanting along with their translation. A special one is narrated by Harish Bhimani. Here is the link if you want to experience.
It’s a soulful audio with carefully chosen Shlokas from all four Vedas. The chanting and narration are both so beautiful that they give the feel of the ashrams of Vasishtha or Vishwamitra. The Calming background music is perfect with the chanting.
A couple of days back when I was listening, something triggered me to delve deeper and I found following two really insightful shlokas.
May we see (our children and the sun) for a hundred autumns. (Clear vision/visionary intellect)
May we live for a hundred autumns. (Longevity)
May we know/understand (the Truth) for a hundred autumns. (Wisdom)
May we rise/grow (in prosperity) for a hundred autumns. (Progress)
May we thrive/be nourished for a hundred autumns. (Vitality)
May we be (born/exist) for a hundred autumns. (Continuous existence)
May we be born again and again/develop for a hundred autumns. (Rebirth/Evolution)
May we be, even beyond a hundred autumns. (Eternal life/liberation)
Rigved 7.66.16
You don’t just live, you don’t just live long, you live better.
Such a beautiful prayer to wish someone on their birthday.
This Shloka has different adaptations in Yajurved and Atharvaved too.
The following is not just a shloka but the Sanskrit expression and a validation of my personal desire.
पुनः पुनर्नो भवति जीवसे पुनः पुनर्नः सविता दधातु।
पुनः पुनर्ज्योतिर्ददातु देवं ज्योक् च सूर्यं दृशेम॥
May we be born again and again with a mind capable of doing virtuous deeds, of acquiring strength and longevity and being engaged into constant contemplation of god
I have always dreamt of coming back, maybe on this earth or somewhere else, and create something meaningful. That’s my salvation.
